Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Ashford Halley | New Orleans Wedding Photographer

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your style?

We specialize in documentary style, photojournalistic wedding photography and expertly crafted, artistic portraiture. Our goal is to provide you with stunning wedding photography while being as unobtrusive as possible but also knowing when to step in and give you direction. We have the professional experience to keep things running efficiently and smoothly so you can enjoy your wedding day!

How long have you been photographing weddings?

Kim has been photographing weddings for 22 years and Jennifer has 9 years of experience.

Who will be photographing my wedding?

Kim and Jennifer are both primary photographers at Ashford Halley so when you contact us about your wedding, we will check our availability, and the photographer that is open for your date will contact you to schedule a meeting.

Do you work with a second shooter?

All of our collections come with two shooters for your wedding day. We understand that it takes more than one photographer to document all aspects of your wedding.

Do you have insurance?

Absolutely! Some venues require vendors to provide a certificate of liability so just let us know if you need that.

How do I book my wedding with you?

Once you have reached out to us, we will set up an in-person, Skype or phone consultation to get to know you a little better and to see if we are a good fit. When you are ready to reserve your date with us, just give us a call or shoot us an email, and we will send you a booking proposal where you will select your services, sign the contract and pay the $650 deposit and it can all be done within 5 minutes!

What is your payment schedule?

We do not have a payment schedule other than the deposit of $650 due at the time of booking and remaining balance due 30 days prior to the wedding. If you need the high resolution images from one of your sessions before your balance is paid out we do require a payment of $500 to cover the cost of the session. But, with your online client portal, you can set up any type of payment schedule you want!

Can you hold a date for me?

We wish we could! But, we book dates on a first come, first serve basis. Not to worry though, a deposit of $650.00 and a signed contract can reserve your date!

Do I have to decide on a package right away?

All we require to reserve your wedding date is a $650 deposit and a signed contract. You can make changes to your invoice up until 30 days before the wedding when the balance is due.

Can we provide you with a “shot list” or “must take pictures”?

We definitely want a list of all of the family groups that you want because we don't know who your important people are. If there are any locations or poses that you like we want to know that as well. We don't need a list of the standard shots that happen at most weddings such as cutting the cake, the first kiss, the first dance, etc... With our experience we will already be taking those pictures. Keep in mind that we are documentary photographers meaning we love to capture the unexpected and emotional moments of your day.

Can our family and friends take pictures?

Absolutely! We just ask that they are respectful of where we are in relation to the events happening.

What is the “online gallery” you mention in your collections?

Every client that books with Ashford Halley, will receive a password-protected client portal. In this portal, you will have a gallery for each of your sessions and your wedding: engagements, bridals, and wedding day. You will be able to select your favorites, order any products, and download your high resolution images.

Do we need to feed you at the reception?

It is in our contract that we do require a meal at the reception of whatever your guests are being served. Remember that we are with you for at least 6 hours so we get hungry :) We usually grab a bite to eat between events at the reception.

How long after my wedding will I receive my pictures?

You will receive your photographs 4-6 weeks after your wedding.

Can we see the outtakes and all the images that didn’t make the final cut?

After each wedding, we go through all of the images and cull out any images that have unflattering facial expressions, closed eyes, soft focus etc... We give you the best of the best for your wedding.

How many pictures will I receive?

The number of images that you will receive depends on your length of coverage. You can expect to receive 500-800 images from a 6-8 hour wedding. We believe in quality over quantity.

Will my wedding pictures be edited and retouched?

All of the images that we deliver will be corrected for cropping, color, density, etc... Our post processing style is natural so we do not use any trendy filters that will eventually become dated. We do spend additional time retouching all of your bride and groom portraits as well as family portraits. We also offer more extensive retouching services at an additional cost.

Do we get the copyright of the images?

We as the photographers own the copyright to any images we produce. However, you will have permission to print wherever you would like.

How do I order an album?

Once you have received your wedding images, you will be able to order any of our high quality wedding albums. You can select the type of album and all of the images for the album through the gallery in your online client portal. You are welcome to make an appointment with us to see samples of the different types of albums that we offer. When we receive your order and payment, we will design your layout and email you when your proof is available in your portal. You will be able to make any changes that you want before it is printed. Once you approve the album we will place the order for you and have it delivered!

Do you have backup equipment?

Of course! We are definitely prepared for any situation that arises!

What if you are unable to make my wedding due to sickness or family emergency?

This has yet to happen! And, fingers crossed, it never does. In the event that your main photographer is severely sick or has a family emergency, we will find an associate photographer that we trust to photograph your wedding with the understanding that we will still be doing all of the editing.

Where are you located and how far will you travel?

Our premier studio is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in the heart of mid-city. We travel frequently to New Orleans, Lafayette, and surrounding areas for weddings and portraits. We love destination weddings! Email us for a quote!
