Working with Lauren and Mark was an absolute dream! They got married at St. Louis Cathedral with their gorgeous reception at Elm’s Mansion. Despite the rain, Lauren & Mark made the best of it and enjoy their wedding to the fullest!!
How did you meet?
“Mark and I met on Frenchmen St. Halloween night in New Orleans. I wore a deviled egg costume and Mark dressed up as the big blue ox (because he lost a bet!). We ran into each other at Maison and talked for what seemed like at least 4 hours. Finally we parted ways without exchanging numbers. It wasn’t until a couple of months later I was out for a friends birthday at a local New Orleans bar and ran into him. We went on our first date that following Monday and we’ve been together ever since!”
What is your proposal story?
“Mark proposed on my birthday! I share a birthday with his older brother so Mark’s family was in town to celebrate. We went to English Turn to play a round of golf and on the 18th hole he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We play golf there all the time so it was a special place for us.”
How did you select your wedding venue?
“Mark and I wanted an indoor/outdoor location so we were relatively limited. We also wanted a sit down dinner so we needed a place that would allow us to incorporate everything we wanted. The Elm’s was the first and only place we looked at. The home itself has so much character and the outdoor space can be utilized however you want. It was perfect for what we wanted!”
Anything you did that was unique?
“We had a sit down dinner and I highly recommend it! It’s not necessarily unique but for New Orleans it definitely is. It gives you a time to sit down and relax and enjoy conversations before hitting the dance floor the rest of the night. The wedding flies by and this was a great way to slow down and really embrace the moment. We also added an extra 2 hours to our reception because 3 is just too short!”
